Where does the time go?
It's been over a year and a half since I posted a blog
entry but major events warrant that I do so. On
Thursday, October 9, 2014 the New York City Council is
presenting a proclamation to Comic Con for its work in
promoting the business of comic books and comic strips
and the numerous cottage industries they've created over
so many decades. One of the proclamation presenters is
none other than Average Man himself, Manny B! And
accepting the award on behalf of Comic Con is Marvel
Comics' own STAN LEE!!! Watch this space for an update
soon, and hopefully some photos!
Also...from now
on all proceeds from the tip jar will
be donated to either nonprofit arts organizations or
artists that, unlike myself, do this for a living. The
comic strip is an endangered species as print newspapers
go the way of the dinorsaur and retool themselves for
the digital age.

The latest episode for Average Man is finished
and it's a special appeal for my own local nonprofit
arts group, ARTs East New York! Click READ above and

After a much-needed break, Average Man is back!
Hope you enjoy the latest strip!

I'm having some technical difficulties with my blog
page. I should have it fixed soon.
Next week makes six months that I've been
doing Average Man! Strip #26 is coming in just one week!
December 24, 2012
It's Christmas Eve! I haven't posted on the
Average Man blog in over a month! Lots to tell. First,
the navigation between the current strip and past strips
is finished and works just fine. When you click on any
strip you can go to the previous strip, the next strip,
or back to the archive page.
I also introduced a "tip jar" to help the
costs of producing the strip. It's been up and running
for about eight hours and already has been a great help.
Thanks!
The main reason I'm collecting small
donations is because I want to go 100% digital in the
near future. To do that properly I want to buy a Cintiq
24" tablet from Wacom. Here's an example of digital
production.

It's been almost a month since I've made an entry here.
Sorry! The next strip is live! In "Saving Daylight"
I tell some stories of my childhood, where the
concept of Daylight Savings Time is not always simple
for children to understand. Click READ above to
check it out! Last week, between preparation for
Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath, I got behind schedule
with the new navigation system. By next Monday it should
be up and running.
October 8, 2012
The new is live! "Malfunctionitis" takes on the
ever-evolving world of technology. Click READ above to
check it out now!
October 1, 2012
The new is live! "Puertoricanism" takes on the
Puerto Rican diaspora. Although the message targets
Puerto Ricans on the mainland, it can--and should--speak
to the masses. Click READ above to check it out now!

The next AVERAGE MAN is almost done and I'm using a few
format! No more white borders on the sides. I
removed them, leaving more space for text and
art. I'm also making the next edition twelve panels
instead of nine. Look forward to "Puertoricanism"
in just a couple of days! And remember...if you like it,
forward it!
September 24, 2012
The new strip is live! "High Maintenance"
takes on the classic "Man versus Woman" theme but with a
modern twist! Enjoy! If you like it--forward it! And
remember, you can get AVERAGE MAN in your inbox every
Monday. Look for the orange box on the left to sign
up!!!

Two days ago Average Man celebrated its one month
anniversary! Six strips in four weeks was a lot of
work, but I'm on the regular weekly schedule now, every
Monday in the late morning. Here's a sneak peak at next
week's strip titled "High Maintenance" (hint: the
working title was "Man vs. Woman").

September 17, 2012
The new strip is live! "Adventure Day" takes us
around New York State, the most beautiful state in the
union. The strip is based on real life events as usual.
I have a few friends that I go thrill-seeking with
upstate or along the coast. One of us always gets
hurt, without fail. I hope you enjoy the strip!
September 15, 2012
Thanks for the great support from so many readers around
the country and even the world! Average Man has readers
in eleven countries across four continents. Here's a
sketch from next week's strip, titled "Adventure Day"
coming to you Monday, September 17th!

September 10, 2012
The new strip is live! "Dos and Don'ts of Running for
Office" is based on 100% true stories, taken from local
political campaigns. Thanks to everyone that contributed
to this strip, especially KK.Have a story of your own
that you'd like to submit? I've already begun
working on part two of "Dos and Don'ts" so don't delay
one second and
submit
your experiences right now!
September 9, 2012
The next strip is almost done. Here's a preview of some
of the drawings from my sketchbook. It will be another
political strip, given that Thursday, September 13,
2012 is Primary Election Day in New York State.

September 6, 2012
Next week's strip is in the works! Expect it on Monday
morning, Sept 10th. If you want to get it automatically
in your inbox via email, you can
sign up here!
September 4, 2012
Website is finally up and running!!! But you knew
that already since you're reading this. Constant Contact
email blast is also up and running.
September 3, 2012
The strip will go to a weekly schedule. I wanted to get
a few strips out back to back to give readers a bunch of
strips to check out at once.
August 31, 2012
Next strip is live, a few days early so I can enjoy the Labor Day weekend. Title is "The Incredible Powerful Urgent Importance of 'This'". Check it out here!
August 27, 2012
If you prefer to read the strip on Twitter, you can do so as of today. Look for @averagemancomic or scroll down to the Twitter link and click on it.
August 24, 2012
Next strip is live; check out "Counting Chickens
Before They Hatch". The strip is based on real-life
events from the urban chicken farm, Los Pollos del
Pueblo, located right around the block from me. I hope
the little guys pull through and start laying eggs soon!
August 22, 2012
Next strip is live; check out "Pay to Play" which is not
a political strip, despite its title. It's based on a
local guy that refused to take more than a few dollars
for raking leaves in front of my home.
August 20, 2012
AVERAGE MAN is launched. A perfect day for it. We now
have the same birthday. This strip, "Along Came a
Spider" is based on an awful spider bite that I got in
mid-July.
